Botox is a product based on botulinum toxin, which is a protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. In addition to its various medical indications, it is generally used in the beauty industry. At first hearing, we often think of a dangerous, toxic, artificial substance that can be used to achieve wrinkle-free, smooth skin - fortunately, most of these facts are not true, or the information about it is incorrect due to various bad examples and exaggerated application.
What is botox, why is it used, and what happens during a treatment?
The essence of the aesthetic botox treatment is that it achieves targeted local, reversible, i.e. temporary paralysis of the facial muscles, but only affects the muscles into which it was injected - thanks to this, it can eliminate mimic wrinkles (mainly between the eyebrows), crow's feet and forehead wrinkles too. Botox treatment is also used in many other cases, for example to treat the lower half of the face or even the neck muscles and to reduce increased underarm sweating. It is important to know that the effect of the treatment is always dose-dependent, if applied correctly it does not cause an artificial appearance, our medical specialist strives for naturalness. Botox is a prescription substance that, by injecting into the muscles and relaxing them in this way, we can temporarily improve the appearance of fine and stronger dynamic wrinkles, which can increase the elasticity of the skin and also contribute to the smoothing of wrinkles. The intervention takes a total of 10-15 minutes. Everyone's perception of pain is different, according to some of our patients, the botox injection results in a slight needle-prick sensation, while others do not experience any discomfort.
How to prepare for it and what happens after the treatment?
Before the treatment, our specialist will discuss the goals with you so that he can select the most suitable treatment for you, since in each case we will develop an individual therapy plan suitable for your skin type and needs. The result is visible after a few days after the treatment, it takes 7-10 days to fully develop and approx. It lasts for 3-4 months. There is no recovery time after the treatment, the treatment points may become slightly red, which usually disappears within 30 minutes. If bleeding can be detected at one point or another, this symptom will disappear in a few days.
In order to ensure the durability of the effect, we recommend regular repetition of the treatment, according to your needs and possibilities. We recommend that you avoid the hot sun, cosmetic treatments, massaging the treated area, and the use of the Finnish sauna for two weeks after the treatment. The result is quick and spectacular, and the risk of mild side effects is also low.
